Istanbul Kültür University is an institution which provides education according to national, global and modern values as well as international criteria. With this characteristic, its objective is to become one of the pioneering educational institutions first in Turkey, then in the European Union.
2. KÜLTÜR’S MISSION
Kültür’s task is to improve its students holistically to the highest level in emotional, physical and mental aspects, equip them with modern values, and prepare them for life. It’s essential for students to become loved and respected as well as loving and respectful, self-confident, happy, ethical, successful individuals and citizens as a result of their education.
3. KÜLTÜR IS ATATÜRKIST
Kültür aspires after sustaining Atatürk’s reforms ‘‘with the guidance of reason and science’’ according to his saying, and aims to ‘‘exceed the level of modern civilizations’’. This objective is the ‘‘dynamic ideal’’ of Kültür. Kültür places utmost importance on raising awareness about this issue among its students.
4. KÜLTÜR IS MODERN
Kültür follows the modern developments in the education applications and benefits from them in its own practices. It internalizes improvement through modern sciences and technologies and makes sure they are widespread and implemented. It defines modernization as arriving at the thoughts, understanding, approach, conditions and necessities of the era that are based on reason and science and are universally agreed upon; therefore, it sees reaching them as an objective and as a principle.
5. KÜLTÜR IS GLOBAL
Kültür desires for the students to become fluent in languages other than their native language, to recognize the improving and changing technologies and use them, to acquire universal values, and to communicate with the rest of the world. It is curious about different cultures, thoughts and approaches. It follows them, listens to them, approaches them with understanding and benefits from them.
6. KÜLTÜR IS STUDENT-CENTERED
The student is an asset which comes to Kültür in order to receive education trusts Kültür and the guidance of its teachers. Keeping the students at the center, accepting them as special and unique individuals with their own rights and obligations, acting with the objective of ‘‘catering to the student’s needs’’ at any given time, and showing unconditional love and unprejudiced acceptance to them are the main principles of education.
7. KÜLTÜR SUPPORTS VERSATILITY
Kültür believes that education should be carried out as a flexible and versatile process according to the intelligence and learning habits of the students as well as their personal and social needs. It is open to different views, opinions and evaluations on any matter. It possesses the understanding to listen to the opposing views in a democratic manner and to criticize them accordingly.
8. KÜLTÜR CARES ABOUT PRODUCTIVITY
Kültür doesn’t care about merely acquiring knowledge; it also wants knowledge to be internalized, analyzed, synthesized, used for resolving problems and reproduced by the students. In this direction, it strives for the processing of knowledge within the education period and helps education achieve depth by the acquisition of brand new knowledge.

For Kültür, continuous improvement and the pursuit of innovation are fundamental. Kültür believes that the existing situation is not enough, accepts that better things are possible all the time on every topic and maintains its efforts to reach perfection. Its main philosophy on every level of education is progressive improvement and a value-adding pursuit of innovation and change.
10. KÜLTÜR HAS VISIONARY LEADERS
Kültür’s rector, deans, department heads and all instructors have internalized the school’s vision. The administrators and teachers have a concept of responsible leadership that creates models and examples, guides and supports the students according to the shared institutional values. A leader from Kültür questions, searches and realizes what needs to be done to achieve productive results, instead of just doing what they want to do.

Kültür believes that human beings, society and the world are a whole and courses, topics, plans and programs are inseparable when it comes to education. Therefore, it also cares about courses and topics outside of its field. It believes that sciences, native and foreign languages, mathematics, social and cultural courses, arts, sports, culture, and psychological, mental and physical improvement all complete each other in education. It emphasizes communication and collaboration between these fields.

Kültür administrators, teachers and staff place utmost importance on quality. For them, quality means student’s high academic achievement; competence in the preparation for the next level in the academic career, professional career or life; sustainable improvement and innovations in the approach to services and the quality of education; determination to fulfill the vision and the mission; pioneering in leadership, teamwork, collaboration, self-evaluation, self-improvement and the pursuit of perfection.

Kültür cares about using the new and modern technologies in education and sees them as efficient tools of teaching. It makes sure that technology mutually exists with a culture, philosophy and ethics. It does not merely glorify technology nor turns it into a myth; it sees technology as a tool for realizing its vision and mission. It sees this tool as a foundation for change and transformation, as well as for the development of new technologies.

Kültür believes that sustainability is required for consistent improvement in the education practices in light of its vision, mission, principles and values. Kültür respects all thoughts and beliefs. It creates opportunities for different ideas to be expressed and sees this as an undeniable right. Knowing that the only limit to freedom of thought and beliefs are the rights and freedom of other people, it abides by the universal human rights, our national entity and integrity, framework of reason and science, and Atatürk’s reforms and principles.

Kültür does not believe in one-dimensional guidance and does not only care about its own opinions; it also values needs of the learners and listens to their opinions and demands. It is sensitive to the students’ curiosity, attention, problems and questions. It does not supersede them while supporting them; it cares about helping the students become leaders and role models instead of merely giving advice to them.

Kültür knows that the individual is clad with many natural and innate skills; hence, it creates opportunities in order to uncover these skills. It takes this up as a natural duty to show care and attention to discover and improve students with special skills and knowledge.

Beginning from the classroom, Kültür supports participation in every unit of the school, every task, and every activity regarding education and administration. Kültür knows that in learning and education, the three key languages are the native language, the language of mathematics, and foreign language. It sees that a high level of awareness, knowledge and fluency in the native language is a prerequisite for a modern, healthy, productive, and effective education. It acts in line with the understanding that these three main languages have a key role on the path to knowledge, science and life as it strives for high academic achievement.

Kültür embraces the belief that every person is a unique and special individual with their own rights. While working for this, it distinguishes between being individualistic and being ‘‘selfish’’. It is sensitive towards the society; it never forgets that social awareness and utility must be pursued in every situation and activity. It never avoids social responsibility. As a dynamic part of the society, it strives to sustain and improve the social culture and values.
