This course is an overview of preliminary approaches and methods in foreign/second language teaching. The aims of the course are: 1) to involve pre-service EFL teachers in a thorough analysis and synthesis of ELT approaches and methods with respect to their underlying theories and principles, and the techniques associated with those approaches and methods and 2) to help pre-service EFL teachers develop a critical understanding of these language teaching approaches and methods.
